Upcoming Update for July 15, 2011

It has been a while since I updated Hand Tech Studio. I’m working behind the scene updating several sections and adding a new services that is just added to Hand Tech Studio. Here are a couple things to look out for in the new update:

Updated Service Page Design
Advertising on our website network
Contact / About Page will be updated
And several minor add-on such as updating the footer and some small changes.

Thanks for your ongoing support with Hand Tech Studio. I have a lot more stuff in store and will share it with you as soon I release it to the public! Exciting times!

Transferring our domains to NameCheap.com

Due to personal reason, I have decided to transfer handtechstudio.com to NameCheap.com after the stunt GoDaddy.com CEO pulled couple months ago. It should be fully transfer over to the new domain register within the next 48 hours.

I have been moving many websites domain register to NameCheap.com and will continue to do so.

NameCheap.com has become my current domain register that I will refer to my current and future clients if they asked for it.

NOTE: I edited a few things in this post after receiving few email due to misunderstand/confusion.

Spring 2011 Update

Happy Spring!

Instead of doing it monthly update, I will do a quarterly update. There is so much going on and I can’t really keep updating as time goes being one-man operation. I do have a lot of things to share, hopefully I will be able to one by one in a few weeks. There are some year-long projects that I have been working on which is almost ready to go live or updated.

I am adding new services which is Web Maintenance for ANYONE. I usually just offer this service to the current clients but I’m now offering web maintenance to anyone. There are different package where I can do it for $25.00/hour or do a big saving of $400/6 months contract. Yes there are limitations for all of these package. There is no limit on by-the-hour package. (I will post the package page later tonight with a link).

Other update such as the monthly newsletter, that is being on hold until further notice.

There is some exciting projects that is currently in work and I’m looking forward to sharing with everyone in May. Be sure to check out Hand Tech Studio via Facebook. The page is updated frequently with tools, tips, showcase, advice, and more. Be sure to like it and include it in your Facebook Feeds.

January/Feburary 2011 Update

Happy New Year and Happy Valentine Day!

Since January already pass, I have several updates that need to be shared with you. It will be a little longer update than the usual. So bare with me. I have already broke down so you can skim through.

Facebook Update

Many of you know that Facebook has made many new changes in the past few weeks. I do offer Facebook Fan Page custom tab page starting as low as $200. This is a great way to reach out to your audience and gain new “fans” to your website and you can expand and increase awareness, profits, attention, or other purpose for your Fan Page. Being on Google Map, it is a great way to get your business name out there. It is pretty much a interactive “phonebook” where you can submit it for FREE! Since I’m open my business worldwide, Google only allow up to 625 miles radius but still it is pretty good considering it reach up to New York, Philly, Washington, D.C., and other major cities on the east coast! You should check it out and place. In couple weeks, we will discuss more in-depth about how to add YOUR business on Google Map!

HandTechStudio.Org

Hand Tech Studio started out as my major project back in Fall 2005 for one of my Educational Technology class. Since then, I have been focusing on developing potentials educational software or approaches with different ways to use technology as a supplements. In the last 5 years, I have transform Hand Tech Studio into a new media company that open up to general public and business. I graduated from Ball State with a bacholer degree in Deaf Education with a minor in Early Childhood Special Education and also a minor in Educational Technology in Spring 2006. I also completed my master in Curriculum & Educational Technology in Summer 2009. Currently I’m finishing up my 2nd Master in Digital Storytelling and expecting to graduate this spring. With those knowledge and experience, it helped me to open doors to larger scope of audience in both academic and business audience.

During the past couple years, I have been working on my thesis project/paper by developing a interactive protocol for young children from age range of 2 – 5 years old. Project is called “iZoo: Interactive Zoo” at this time. This has been a great learning experience for me to collaborate my knowledge during the time I spent at Ball State University since Fall 2000. HandTechStudio.org will updated later next week where I will be releasing my ongoing progress with the “iZoo” as I’m getting closer to the end. I thought it would be a great opportunity to allow you to see what I can offer and how I can work with you to develop a better program.

Last of all, I just got my business card yesterday and I was pleased with the results. I will talk about that in the next post. December 2010 Update

As it come to the end of Year 2010, I will have to say that it has been a long year. As it get closer to the end of the year, I have been receiving many requests to do a website or a few websites which is very exciting for me to be a part of. While I’m still polishing up Hand Tech Studio, I’m also updating and adding new contents in our portfolio. Currently, my print portfolio is pretty much up to date. I hope to have the web design portfolio up to date before Christmas.

Sometime in January, I will be doing the monthly newsletter which will give you pointers, tips, social marketing ideas, and more. You will be able to sign up right from the footer on Hand Tech Studio website once the system is ready to go. I will post it on Facebook / Twitter when it is ready.

Last note, if you haven’t been a fan of Hand Tech Studio on Facebook or a follower on Twitter. You are missing out! Do it! I DO post some social media marketing tips, creative design, and more on Facebook / Twitter than I do on the website. I have some a new and exciting ideas that I’m planning to launch out on January 11, 2011 (1/11/11) with something that I haven’t seen on Facebook Page yet and this will top all of my other works that I have done. Theme Park Coaster Club

We have build a custom WordPress Theme to make it easier for the owner of TPCC to be able to maintain their website and post update at their own time. Along with WordPress, we integrated the custom Twitter plug-in to blend in with the theme instead of the standard Twitter Badge that look like everyone else has.

If you have visited Hand Tech Studio in the past, there has been some changes such as content and how things operate. There is a story behind that. I don’t want to bored you thou. It was basically a mistake that where I was cleaning up Hand Tech Studio LIVE database, a “spring” cleaning. I forgot that I had two WordPress data on the LIVE database for Hand Tech Studio. I just delete the one that I assume it was just a testing version by the name of the tables since I wouldn’t install it that way. Oops! It was THAT table that shouldn’t be deleted. So basically, I’m just trying to recover all the data that I have lost and learn how to set up a auto backup with my web-host to avoid this problem again. So lesson learned and I moved on.

Anyway, while I’m recovering the contents from my older website and tune up the information, I’m also making some change within the website. I hope to have everything square away by Monday morning. I’m sorry about the problem this may cause you. I don’t normally make a mistake. It was my honest mistake. I’m ready to start new again anyway. Anyway, I will keep you posted as I go.

Are You With Social Media Yet?

Social Media is a powerful tool that will allow you to interact with your consumers, fans, and future consumers. It is a great way to get word out about what’s going on with your products, what’s new, what’s being changed, some offbeat note about the company to keep your followers interests. It can be done through twitter, facebook, YouTube, Stumble, Flickr, and many more different ways to share your products and update!

Let take a look at one of the most exciting week for the theme parks and coaster enthusiast, IAAPA! It is a tradeshow and conventions where thousands of people come to IAAPA to meet with manufacturer, companies, and peoples to discuss new ideas and concepts specifically theme parks, amusement parks, family entertainment center, and road side attractions-related business. Several theme parks and roller coasters fansite has the opportunity to attend IAAPA expo. They used several techniques to get the word out about what’s happening at IAAPA. Let take a look at one website.

Quick Case Study: Theme Park Review @ IAAPA!

Robb Alvey from Theme Park Review took a lot of photos from his iPhone and feed it to his Facebook Wall account to give a “live” update to the fans of Theme Parks Review. At the same time, remote staffs from Theme Park Review retrieve those pictures and publish it to the website. While he is not doing live update via facebook and twitter, he did several video interviews with several major companies to talk about the new ideas and what’s coming in 2011. He edited the video, compress it, and publish to YouTube and already has 560 views in less than 15 hours since he publish it on YouTube. Robb already has a guidelines of what people want to know and show what was interesting. He has succeeds his short terms goals by giving good coverage of IAAPA based on the discussion of Theme Park Review discussion and his observation that will catch people’s attention. He executed very well.

This is a great way to keep theme parks and coaster enthusiast informed of what they might see in 2011 Season and beyond. This is one approach and it doesn’t work for everybody but it works for Theme Park Review since majority of their fans and followers use Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Robb Alvey took full advantage of all three types of social media to update their fans!

Tips You can use to make the best use of social media

Define your goals to keep you on track – Short / Long terms included!
Be helpful and contribute to others.
Spamming your readers = No Traffic. Be a human than being a sale person.
Not everyone is going to like you. Sorry but that’s the reality.
Do a little often since it can take up a lot of time.
It takes time, persistence, consistency, and commitment to generate results.
Anyone can do it, but NOT everyone ‘does’ it.
Get to know and learn from the players in your niche.
Find the niche forums for your interest or business.
Pick and keep refining your niche.
